Tennis in Klosters

In Klosters, Tennis is being played very passionately. What could be better than to indulge in your hobby amidst the beautiful mountains or, as some (well-known) professionals say, practice their profession?

One man who is on the ball professionally Hans Markutt. The owner of the Alpine Tennis Academy, which is represented in Bad Ragaz and in Klosters, is one of the experts of his field. In addition to various trainings, he now has over 30 years of experience in competitive and recreational tennis. He founded the Alpine Tennis Academy in 2009 with the aim of professionally promoting tennis in the Grisons in particular .

A real tennis ace

Hans Markutt has also contributed well beyond the cantonal borders to promoting tennis and recreational sport in the past 30 years. He was responsible for the nationwide coaches education for more than ten years and now leads the Junior European Championships in Klosters, which has been held since 1994, for the ninth time. Martina Hingis, Anna Kournikova and Carlos Moya (Spain) won the tournament. Even current stars such as Roger Federer have failed in Klosters back then.

Currently, Hans Markutt is responsible for coaching the Grisons tennis hope Gian Luca Tanner. For his great commitment he was named Official / Coach of the Year at the Graubünden Sports Night in Chur in 2017.

The Swiss team has been staying with us at the Sunstar Hotel Klosters for years during the Junior European Championships. So we were able to welcome current well-known players like Belinda Bencic, Jill Teichmann, Roger Federer and Martina Hingis. Always a pleasure!
